Durham Roller Derby is a women’s flat track roller derby team based in County Durham, UK. Our team was formed in February 2014 by 9 like-minded skaters and since then we have grown substantially in size, representing Durham at games all over the UK. Our league is run by the skaters, for the skaters.
We’ve gone through a lot of changes since the Covid-19 pandemic began but now we’re back in full force. We currently have a bouting team of advanced skaters and two levels of developing skaters: Level 1 “newbies” who are enrolled on our 12 week beginners programme, and Level 2 “rookies” who have progressed to full contact and are learning the rules of roller derby.
Our team is open to all female identifying and non binary skaters over the age of 18, and we run a new skater intake 2 to 3 times a year. We’re always looking for volunteers and officials of any gender so if you’re interested in the sport but aren’t sure if you’re ready to get on 8 wheels then drop us a message – there’s a place in roller derby for EVERYONE!
